The Loiulou correspon lout of the “New Zealand Herald” writes :—The amount of money for which the investing public in England is only 100 thankful to got something like security, and live per cent is so great, the bonds of all the colonies are now being eagerly inquired after. A friend of mine recently wished to put some money into South Australia bonds, and had to wait several weeks before ho eonhl got hold of any, and eventually he put part of the money into New Zealand bonds instead. A curious proof of the amount of money which there is in England at present waiting for investment was brought under my notice the other day. The Metropolitan Board of Works advertised for a loan of throe millions, for which they offered only four per cent, and in the course of five days they received tenders for twenty one millions and a half of money, or r.ither more than seven times as much as they required. Comment on the above is asstucdly superfluous.
