An instance of extraordinary ferocity on the part of a hedgehog has come rather unhappily to the notice of a Blenheim poultry iancies (says the Marlborough Express). In a small coop the fancier had a couple of valuable white Leghorn roosters, which he was preparing for the show. Early <pne morning, hearing a commotion in the backyard, he hurried out to find* a hedgehog sharing the coop with two gory and badly dilapidated birds. It was evident that the savage little animal had had a grim battle with the roosters, and had all but done them to death when he was disturbed. His summary execution ensued. The owner of the Leghorns has hopes of saving them, but for show purposes they are ruined for this season at least.
