MEAT PRODUCERS’ BOARD.
SMITHFIELD PRICES. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated June 26, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offe”ing during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield Market and/or ex London stores:— (Prices for the two previous weeks are also shown).
N.Z. Frozen Veal — — — Lamb Market: Slightly easier. Consumption remains good. Mutton Market: Wethers and ewes; prices easier in sympathy with lamb, but stocks light and demand is good for the time of year. Beef Market: Still remains depressed owing to heavy arrivals chilled beef. N.Z. Porker Pigs: Market is quiet. Demand is small, but stocks are light. N.Z. Baconer Pigs: Nominal prices. There is practically no demand owing to extremely low prices Continental bacon.
