A decided disagreement of opinion in which his Excellency the GovernorGeneral participated took place at Gisborne. In his lengthy address of welcome Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., touched on the economic depression, and outlined what he believed were the main causes. In. doing so, he maintained that the Empire Marketing Board was so mixed up with' politics at Home that it was doing little good for this part of the Empire. Lord Bledisloe, during his reply, dealt with this remark, saying that at one time he sat on the Empire Marketing Board, and he yas able to say that, whatever might be the board’s defects, it was in no way mixed up in politics.
