“MADE IN NEW ZEALAND”
EXHIBITION AT CROMWELL. CROMWELL, June 25. The exhibition of New Zealand-made goods was opened this afternoon in fine ■weather, and with a large attendance of visitors and the public. Visitors were present' from a radius of 40 miles, and the hall was packed to the doors during the ceremony. The exhibits of some 40 or more firms make a wonderful display, and are a' revelation to the community of what can be produced in New Zealand, or more directly in Otago. In addition tp three large buildings, the shop windows are appropriately arranged with New Zealandmade goods, and with the_ wonderful coloured lighting effects the streets tonight present a pleasing effect. , The exhibition was officially, opened by the Mayor (Mr Roberts), assisted by Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., Mr C. P. Hainsworth (who was manager of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition). All the speakers complimented the manufacturers on the excellent displays staged, and laid stress’ on the present urgent need for buying New Zealand goods. By doing so they would help to stem unemployment and assist-io open up avenues of employment for the thousands of boys and girls who annually leave the schools. ...Messrs Bodkin and Hainsworth complimented the Mayor and the committee on their work leading up to such a splendid exhibition in so short a time.
