WAIPAWA SEAT REFORM CANDIDATE ANNOUNCED, ■ar tir n- HASTINGS, June 23. Mr William Tucker, of Whakatu, Hastings, who was narrowly beaten by Mr A. E. Jull in last year’s Waipawa by-election, stated this morning his definite intention of contesting the Waipawa seat in the interests of Reform at the next general election. THE HUTT ELECTORATE UNITED PARTY CANDIDATE. WELLINGTON, June 23 The candidature of Mr James Kerr proprietor of the Hutt and Petoue Chronicle, who contested the by-election in the interests of the United Party when Sir Thomas Wilford was appointed Hi<*h Commissioner, is announced for the Hutt seat at the general election. WELLINGTON. The submission of candidates for the Wellington seats at the next general election was discussed at a large meeting held this week by the Organisation Committee of the Wellington group of the Reform Party. The unanimous decision of the meeting was that every seat would be contested at the election and that candidates not already in the field would be announced at an early date. It'was decided to appoint an organiser for all seats immediately. DANNEVIRKE. A large meeting of Reform supporters I asked Mr Marcus D. Smith, Mayor of

Dannevirke, to accept nomination as the Reform candidate for the Pahiatua electorate. Mr Smith stated that he was endeavouring'- to make arrangements in regard to his private business and would give an answer in a fortnight. The*, meeting passed a unanimous resolution, to be forwarded to Mr Coates, that fusion at the present time would not be in the best interests of the Dominion.

INVERCARGILL.

It is announced that Mr George Agnew has been chosen as the Reform candidate for the Invercargill seat at the forthcoming general election. Mr Agnew is first assistant master at the Invercargill South School, and a member of the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association.
