OTAGO WITNESS.

Statistics relating to death from accidental drowning in New Zealand during 1930 were received at a recent meeting of the Canterbury Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society from the Government Statistician. The total of deaths due to this cause was 132, and 44 occurred in the province of Auckland. In Wellington 29 people were drowned, while Canterbury came next with 20. In Otago there were 12 deaths, while none of the other provinces reached double figures. Nobody was drowned in Westland.
