As a result of a magisterial inquiry declaring the poll held on May 6 in respect to the statutory half holiday in the borough of Waipukurau null and void due to the misleading wording of the voting paper and other irregularities, a special poll was held on Wednesday, resulting in .Wednesday, the present day, being retained. The voting was: Wednesday, 545; Saturday, 388; majority. 157. There are 131 declaration votes to come yhich cannot affect the result of the l poll.
