GUILTY OF SHOPLIFTING o SUPPRESSION OF NAME REFUSED. WELLINGTON. June 27. Janet Barnett, aged 55, was to-day convicted of shoplifting and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, and to pay 10s in restitution of the value of damaged goods recovered. x When detected in a drapery shop, she bad goods to the value of £7 5s 4d in her possession and another £1 17s 6d worth was found in her home. It was stated that she was married and living apart from her husband in very poor circumstances with a son and daughter. The son was not working. The accused: Will you suppress my name for the sake of my family? Mr T. B. M‘Neil, S.M.: lam not going to suppress names in shoplifting cases. It is not fair to .the shopkeepers.
