THE BEAUTY SPRAY.

That simple accessory of the toilet tabe—the scent spray—can be adapted to many uses besides that of scattering perfume.

Filled with ice water or an astringent lotion the spray can be used on pale cheeks with marvellous effect, giving to them a natural glow that lasts for many hours, the whole complexion being braced and toned up by the process. The following astringent lotion is splendid. It not only corrects enlarged pores but also remedies an oily or flabby skin. Into an Boz bottle put -loz tincture of benzoin. Add 11 oz. eau de Cologne and soz elderflower water, all previously mixed together. Shake slightly. There will be some precipitation of the benzoin in the mixture, but it soon settles out.

Gentle spraying of the face and behind the ears with lukewarm water in which there is a dash of toilet vinegar has a most invigorating effect when you are tired, and is invaluable for removing particles of grime which lurk in unsuspected corners after a motor ride. A simply prepared toilet vinegar is made from IJoz of glacial acetic acid mixed with one quart of Cologne water.

The toilet spray will also administer a dry shampoo. Very finely powered alum is splendid for the purpose. Spray it well among the roots of the hair. Leave on all night and brush out in the morning. Spraying the hair with cold water followed by light massage acts as a tonic on the scalp and helps to ward off premature greyness. A large spray containing equal parts of lavender water and rosewater in which a few grains of borax have been dissolved will prove invaluable for spraying over hands and feet before dancing or tennis. The hands will not perspire nor the feet become tired.

A “beauty spray” that will impart a marvellous fineness, clearness, and freshness to the skin is made as follows: —-Mix together 4 parts fresh egg albumen, 1 part alcohol, and a few drops of lavender oil to scent. When first prepared the mixture will be flocculent, but after standing for two or three days it will become a clear amber-coloured liquid. It is then ready for decanting. At night spray liberally over the face and neck and allow to dry on. In the morning spray again and allow to dry on several minutes before washing.—An exchange.
