WEEKLY MARKET REPORT. Burnside, June 17. Fat Cattle. —There were 224 yarded, as against 168 last week. The quality, taken all over, was slightly better than at recent sales, there being a larger proportion of well-finished bullocks forward. The demand, however, was no better, and the sale was a disappointing one to sellers. Values may be quoted on a par with last week’s rates. Moderate yardings were forward in all sections at the weekly Lorneville stock sale, which was held to-day. For fat sheep and lambs the sale was an animated one, and prices showed a slight but definite improvement in all classes. Good lines of freezing lambs brought up to 19s 3d. Wethers and ewes suitable lor freezing also brought slightly increased values. The fat cattle yarding comprised almost four races of medium quality beef, but the prices were not encouraging, and the cattle were difficult to dispose of. particularly lots of poor quality. Taken all round the market was scarcely a® firm as a week ago. Fat Cattle. —Prime heavy weight bul locks realised from £8 to £9; medium weights from £6 15s to '£7 10s; light and unfinished sorts down to £5; medium cows from £4 to £5; unfinished sorts down to £2 10s; prime heifers up to £6 7s 6d; medium weights from £4 10s to £5 vealers up to £2 17s 6d; medium sorts from £1 10s to £2. Ltd.) reports as follows:— The fortnightly sheepskin sale was held on Tuesday, when medium sized catalogues were offered to a full attendance of buyers. Competition was good, with values ruling for low grade skins about id below last sale, while good lines ”-ere firm at last sale’s.prices.
