DELIVERY OF LETTERS
BREACH OF REGULATIONS DECISION IN TEST CASE. CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. Messrs Aulsebrook and Co. were convicted and fined £5 by the magistrate (Mr H. P. Lawry), on a charge heard on May 13, of sending a letter for hire or reward otherwise than by post, contrary to section 23 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928. Edwin Clark, a servant of the company, for carrying a letter for hire or reward, was also, fined £5. This was the first prosecution of the kind in New 'Zealand to enforce the regulation preventing any person other than servants of the Post and Telegraph Department from delivering letters for reward.
