MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board was held on Wednesday and was attended by Messrs N. C. Kensington (chairman), D. M'Lennan, M. A. Kinney, J. R. M'Culloch, and G. Livingstone. APPLICATION FOR LAND. Timothy Duggan, of Matakanui, applied for, a renewable lease over an area of approximately 12 acres in block VII, Lauder S.D., at present held by him under miscellaneous license.—To be recommended that Mr Duggan be granted a renewable lease at a capital value of £3 per acre, subject to restrictions as fixed by the warden. James Arol Gordon-Glassford, of Matakanui, applied for a renewable lease over part section 7, block VI, Lauder S.D., comprising 67a 3r 32p.—Granted at a capital value of £240. Miss Mary Ryan applied for a right to occupy over section 13, block XIV, town of Havelock, area lr. —Year-to-year right granted on the usual conditions at a rental of 10s per annum. A. Hyslop applied for permission to occupy an island opposite section 30a, Greenfield settlement, area 6a. (approximately). —Year-to-year right granted at an annual rental of £l. Duncan M'lntosh applied on behalf of the Brighton Presbyterian Church, to purchase section 3, block XVI, Dunedin and East Taieri S.D., comprising lr o.Bp. —Granted at a price of £lO. Honora Ann Donnelly applied for a renewable lease over an area of approximately 101 acres in block VII, Lauder S. at present held by her under miscellaneous license. —To be recommended at a capital value of £1 per acre, subject to restrictions imposed by the warden. James Cairns, of Matakanui, applied for a renewable lease over approximately 80 acres adjoining sections 76 and 84, block VII, Lauder S.D., at present held by him under miscellaneous license. To be recommended at a capital value of £6O, subject to restrictions imposed by the warden. John Whelan, of Waitahuna, applied for a renewable lease over section 6, block X, Waitahuna East-S.D., area 6a 2r 02p. —Granted at an annual rental of £2. DISPOSAL OF LAND. The commissioner reported that a road had been closed in blocks VIII and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of that part thereof, being section 1364 r, comprising 3r 31p, to James Cummock, the licensee of the adjoining section.—Held over.

The commissioner submitted for consideration the question of the disposal of various sections in the town of Pembroke. —Sections to be offered at auction at the upsets submitted by the commissioner. The question of the disposal of section, 21, block VI, Woodlands S.D.. 228 a lr 09p. Area to be offered for selection on the optional system at a capital value of £l2O, with exemption from rent for four years. Question of the disposal of sections 9, block XIV, Lower Wanaka S.D. (260 a Or 12p), and section 7, block XIV, and section 6, block 111, Lower Wanaka S.D. (534 a 3r 37p) .—Section 9, block; XIV, Lower Wanaka, to be offered on renewable lease at an annual rental of £9, and sections 7, block XIV, and 6, block 111, Lower Wanaka, to be offered on pastoral license at an annual rental of £l6 10s, the license to be subject to conditions safeguarding the .interests of the Pembroke Dog Trial Club, such conditions to be fixed by the commissioner. The commissioner reported that a road had been closed in blocks VIII and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of that part thereof being secaion 1357 r, comprising la 2r 23p, to A. Clearie the licensee of the adjoining section.—Held over. Similar matters in connection with roads which had been closed were dealt with as follow:— Blocks VIII and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of section 1354 b, comprising 36p, to the adjoining lessee, A. S. Turnbull. —Held over. Blocks VIII and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of section 1359 b, comprising 2a 3r 20p, to the adjoining lessee, J. T. Kelman.—Held over. Blocks V 111 and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of section 1356 r, comprising la Or 15p, to the adjoining licensee, E. W. Attfield.—Held over. Blocks VIII and 'IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of section 1360 r, comprising la 2r 38p, to the adjoining licensee, S. W. G. Govan.—Held over. Blocks V 111 and IX, Leaning Rock S.D. The board was requested to consider the disposal of section 1355 b. comprising la Or 05p, to the adjoining licensee, James Cummock.—Held over. APPLICATION TO PURCHASE. W. J. R. M'Callum applied to purchase section 20, block 11, Tautuku S.D., area 6a. The question of the disbursement of improvement moneys paid by him was also considered. —Application granted; £3O to be paid to Mrs Hughes and £25 to Mr L. Dew r e. PERMISSION TO OCCUPY. John Henry Reid, jun., applied tor permission to occupy an area adjoining section 23, block VII, Swinburn S.D. (81a), at present held in the name of J. H. Reid, deceased.—Permission granted to occupy area from year to year at an annual rental of £l. John Henry Reid applied for permission to occupy section 22, block VII, Swinburn, and adjoining portion of riverbed (78a), at present held in the name of Fanny Harriet Reid, deceased.—Permission granted to occupy area from year to year at an annual rental of £2. . Robert Cairns and Lionel Arnold Bloomfield both applied for permission to occupy part of Riverbed reserve, opposite block VII, Maruwenua S.D., approximately 172 a. at present held by Robert Russe^^—Permission granted to L. A. Bloomfield to occupy the area from year to year at an annual rental of 255.

Messrs Bodkin and Sunderland, on beh»lf, Mr P. Griffin, of Wellington, applied to the board to cancel miscellaneous license No. 3440 in the name of Alexander Macpherson, so that the area might be submitted at auction. Messrs Duncan and MacGregor requested that this application be adjourned for one month to enable them to appear on behalf of Mr Macpherson.—Adjourned till July meeting.
