“ We’e trying to find the witch’s cave,” Teddy explained to the fish. “ Which witch?” asked the fish plaintively. “ Oh, that one who lives in a cave on the mountain by a waterfall.” The fish began to swim along lazily. Strange underwater plants swirled past, and on rocks families of fishes were gathered eating or resting. Once they passed a school of goldfish. The master, an old, wise-looking fish, was explained to them: “ Remember you are very high-class fish. Never mingle with sardines, and such-like small fry.” On the Chums sped through the water, and their guide suddenly remarked: “ You know, I can’t swim up a waterfall.” Oh, never mind, don’t trouble,” said Teddy. “ You can leave us below the fa 11..” A big black fish swam by. “ That’s my rival in love,” explained their friend. “ Did you notice what a nasty look he gave me? But Esmerelda shall be mine! Ha, ha!” He commenced to rise and they soon reached the surface. A low roaring sound could be heard nearby. “ Here’s the waterfall,” said the fish. “ This is where you get off.” “ Thanks very much,” said Golly, and they landed on the bank. The fish waved his large fin and disappeared under the water. Suddenly the Chums heard a loud shriek, and someone cried: “ Help! Help!” Teddy and Golly ran towards the sound as quickly as their legs would carry them. (To be Continued.)
