DUNEDIN COMPETITIONS
The committee of the Dunedin Competitions Society is making special efforts in connection with this year’s festival, which will be held in his Majesty’s Theatre commencing on August 19. It has been decided, to experiment by holding the festival during the school term holidays. The committee is desirous of receiving good entries for the various choir contests, and with this end in viexv a meeting of church choir representatives ‘ and representatives of firms’ choirs will be held on Tuesday evening. An effort is also being made to obtain entries from the primary schools for a primary' schools’ choir contest. Mr G. H. Elliffe reported that he anticipated a good entry from the secondary girls’ school choirs. Efforts are also being made to secure entries for the half-hour entertainment, and the 15 minute play. If the committee is successful in securing satisfactory entries for-these various contests it should make the evening programmes particularly attractive.
