WINTER SHOW
WEIGHT-GUESSING COAIPETITION. The bullock which was used in connection with the weight-guessing competition at the Winter Show was purchased by Alessrs Bartons, Ltd., butchers, Alanse street, and was weighed on Wednesday afternoon at their shop in the presence of the officials of the society. The correct dressed weight of the bullock was 9491 b. Messrs Eric Laughton (Glenomaru) and W. J. Bulfin (Lawrence R.D.) guessed the correct weight and will divide the first and second prize money. Mrs Winston Cooper (48 Elm row) and Airs H. Taylor (Sandyniount) guessed within half a pound and will divide the third prize. The following persons all guessed within 11b of the correct weight:—Messrs H. King, James Will. R. Johnston, G. Al. Brown, W. F. Sutton, E. Hardie, and Ford APHattie. In the Ladies’ Guessing Competition the first prize for which was a Philco Baby Grand Radio, presented by Alessrs Chas. Begg and Co., Ltd., Dunedin, Airs J. A. Calder (Ravensbourne), Airs E. J. Robertson (Outram), Airs J. W. Thomas (Roslyn), and Afiss F. Alitchell (Burnside), all guessed the correct weight of the bullock, and in accordance with the conditions the radio will be balloted for, and the ladies have been advised accordingly. Airs W. Nichol (Allanton) guessed within a quarter of a pound and Miss N. W. Inder (Ranfurly) guessed within half a pound of the correct weight. The following ladies guessed within one pounS: Alisseg Helm, Alorris, C. P. Alitchell, and Alesdames L. E. Smith, R. Rennie, A. Budge, T. Geary, R. Shepherd, and W. F. Dandle.
