MOTOR CYCLIST’S DEATH AUCKLAND, June 4. Fatal injuries were received by a motor cyclist, P. W. Ramsay, when he crashed into a telegraph pole at Grey Lynn this evening. Ramsay was a middle-aged man and was unmarried. FATAL FALL FROM RIGGING NEW PLYMOUTH, June 4. Falling 60 feet from the rigging of the vessel Aratapu at Waitara last night, Al an . burner, aged 17, received severe injuries, dying later in hospital. Turner was attempting to climb from mast to mast. FATALLY INJURED BY MOTOR CYCLE MASTERTON, June 4. A single man named Frederick Marsh, aged 51, died in the Masterton Hospital to-day as the result of head injuries received on Wednesday night when he was knocked down by a motor cycle ridden by A. B. C. Price, of Solway. VICTIMS OF HOTEL FIRE GREYMOUTH, June 4. At the inquest on the victims of the Union Hotel fire tragedy on Sunday last, when four men lost their lives, the coroner (Mr IV. Meldrum) gave a verdict that the deaths occurred from suffocation and burns before the arrival of the fire brigade, and that the evidence showed it was impossible to do more than was done to attempt to save their lives. He found, too, that the origin of the fire was entirely accidental. KILLED BY FALL OF EARTH NEW PLYMOUTH, June 5. A slip of earth in a sewer trench in Fitzroy suburb, 17 feet deep, caught W. H. Anderson, a single man, at noon to-day. The earth was removed and his face uncovered, but a second slip again covered him, and when dug out at 1.40 pan. he was dead. H. Callerson, caught in the second slip, suffered from shock, and was taken home. DEATH FROM INJURIES CHRISTCHURCH, June 5. Edith Payne, a married woman, residing in Fitzgerald avenue, died in Christchurch Hospital yesterday as the result of scalds received on May 24. A HAWKER’S DEATH CHRISTCHURCH, June 5. Ernest Edward Columbus, a hawker, was found in bed with his throat cut early this morning. At the inquest to-day the evidence of the wife was that he had been in indifferent health for some time. He had previously threatened* to commit suicide. The coroner returned a verdict of suicide. INJURIES TO CHEST Henry Rigby, aged 45 years, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday morning suffering from injuries to his chest. He was driving a motor lorry along the Main South road when a passing bus skidded and collided with the vehicle, Rigby being thrown forward as a result of the impact. He resides at 75 Melbourne street, South Dunedin. STREET ACCIDENT. Mrs Bishop, wife of Air Thomas Bishop a well-known settler of Stony Creek, Hillend. met with an accident in Dunedin on Friday while in for the show. Sh<? was crossing a street, and stopped to let a motor car go past, when a motor cyclist cut in between the car and the kerb and knocked Mrs Bishop down. She is now in hospital, suffering from injuries to her back and legs.
