No. 7. Although the Chums struggled wAh ail their might they were unable to stop themselves from being drawn'into the mysterious castle of the Merry Maker of Magic. Along high, oak-panelled, silent corridors, winding in and out, they went, and at length found themselves in a vast central room filled with stiff figures, which, although they looked real, were only statues. “ Look!” cried Golly. “ There’s a funny statue! It’s a fat old man dressed like Old John Gilpin sitting in his armchairl” He started to laugh, but his laughter turned to an astonished cry when the statue ” moved, and spoke in a loud, squeaky voice. “ Welcome to my castle, little strangers!” The figure struggled to its feet, and with hands on hips, stood staring at the Chums. °

“ Who are you?” asked Teddy. “ Me? Why, I’m the Merry Maker of Magic. See!” He waved his hand and a column of fire leaped up out of the floor to disappear again in the twinkling of an eye. “ You’ve.heard of the Man in the Moon, and perhaps seen his face when the moon if full, e h? Well, I’m the Man in the Moon, and I know the family history of everybody who lives here!” “Do you, indeed!” cried Golly. “ Well, perhaps you can tell us where to find the Prince, and what ails him, Mr.—er—” “ "You may call me Willy. Ah, about this Prince. Yes, I know what makes him so sad. A beautiful Princess, to whom he was to have been married, has been bewitched. -(To be Continued.)
