TUNNELLERS’ DISPUTE

A TRIBUNAL ASKED FOR STATEMENT BY UNION SECRETARY. WELLINGTON, May 19. In a statement issued to-day on behalf of the tunnellers, Mr Cook (secretary of the New Zealand Workers’ Union) condemns the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) for his refusal to set up a tribunal, and concludes:—“We reaffirm our offer to go back to work at day wages, or at the original co-operative contract prices, pending a basis for settlement being reached by the tribunal we have asked for.”
