Eleven well-developed carrots, extending from the parent carrot, is a freak dug by Mr G. Williams, 12 Ely street, Christchurch. Air Williams thinned his carrots when they were seedlings, and the queer-looking vegetable he has now obtained is not a conglomeration of a number of separate carrots. How closely New Zealand and Australia are associated in the eyes of people in other countries was realised by a woman who tried to change New Zealand money for Canadian in Vancouver. In every bank , she went to she was informed that no differentiation was possible between notes from Australia and from New Zealand. For New Zealand £1 notes she was given some 15s. In Vancouver, obviously, they did not realise that a different state of affairs existed in New Zealand from the chaos in the Commonwealth.
