FIRES.

OUTBREAK IN GARAGE. PALMERSTON N., May 21. Three valuable motor lorries owned by the Kairanga Dairy Company, at Longburn, together with a large garage, were destroyed by fire at 1 o’clock this morning. The outbreak was noticed by a passer-by, and the factory employees were aroused, but the fire had too firm a hold for them to save the, garage. The loss is covered by insurance. .PAINTINGS DESTROYED. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 21. Paintings valued at between £2OO and £3OO were destroyed by" fire to-night, when Mr F. J. Cowling’s house was burned down. Tire paintings were, insured for £l7O, the house for £650, and the furniture for £l3O.
