When the engineering firm of Treloars went into voluntary liquidation it dispensed with the services of an apprentice named Norman Eric De Lacy. Subsequently De Lacy sued Treloars for terminating his apprenticeship, and claimed £3OO damages. In a reserved judgment given at Hamilton last week, the magistrate (Mr Wyvern Wilson) awarded the plaintiff £BO damages, computed to be the wages he was prevented from earning through his dismissal, and also to compensate him for the less ot opportunity to qualify as a journeyman.
