BERLIN, September 8. Germany is sending a ship to the Cameroons to test the possibility of wireless ' communications with Nauen. MELBOURNE, September 9. i In the Federal House of Representatives , Mr Kelly moved in favour of the immedi- ' ate establishment of wireless stations j round the coast 6, and that merchant . vessels be equipped with wireless installations. He said that an up-to-date installation would, first, give intelligence of tli€ appearance in Australian waters of any hostile force, and, secondly, would be the means of saving life and property im- . perilled by accidents at sea. He suggested ' one station on the east coast with a view to establishing communication with New Zealand • The Postmaster-general stated that he had much pleasure in supporting the motion. He hoped that with the £10,000 now on the Estimates for wireless purposes at least two stations would be equipped — one in the . vicinity of Sydney and the other at Fremantle. While defence would be the main consideration, he hoped to make the system a commercial success. , The motion was adopted on the voices.
