DUNEDIN CITY MISSION.

Last week's meeting of committee, held in the depot, was attended by Messrs G. M. Thomson (in the chair), J. Barnes, P. L. Clark, E Aslin, J A D Adams, and D. Wright. The following donations, etc., were reported : Business firm, £2 2s ; East Taieri P.W.M.A., 10s; Widow, £5; Friends of the Mission, £6; S. Dunedin Presbyterian Church, £1 16s lid; Knox Church, £11 7s 4d; Albany Street Service, 19s; Attendance cards, etc., 6s; special case, £2 10s. The missionary's monthly notes were fuller than usual, and interesting particulars were given concerning the different classes for Bible-reading in State schools — Monday, North-East Valley; Tuesday, Kaikorai; Wednesday, Albany Street; Thursday, Maori Hill; Friday, Arthur Street. Compared with the experiences of 14 years ago, Mr Wright reported that bead masters, teachers, parents, and school committees are more sympathetic and helpful than, they ever were. That meant large classes, good order, and reverent attention. The intelligent co-operation of senior scholars in all the schools is also of value. In some in-

stances the la<fc attend in larger numbers than the girls. In a recent campetition 21 essays were sent in on " Our School Bible Class." and when judged by a highly competent lady teacher, the following was the result :— Ettie Arneil (Albany Street School), 1; Annie Henderson (do.), 2; Rita Alhiutt (Kaikorai), 3: Rita Gillies (Albany Street), 4; Emmie Roy (Kaikorai), 5; Adeline M. Peart (Maori Hill), 6. Not only wa» the Sunday evening service at Albany Street School more largely attended, bufc there were v - clear indications that the young were resolved to be followers of Jesus Christ, and to all helpers we offer best thanks. The visitations lately included Kaikorai, Russell street, Arthur street, Lambeth road, Caversham, S. Dunedin, Mornington, Frederick street, Clyde street, Leith street, Cumberland street, Great King street, North-East Valley, Roslyn, Duncan street, etc. Mr Wright had also been able to conduct services or assist in many of the city and suburban chui'ches and Sunday schools, and the requests" for co-operation were never refused.
