DRAUGHTS MATCH.
On Saturday evening, 11th inst., at the school'house, Pine Bush, a friendly match at draughts took place between teams from Mataur* Island and Glenham on the one hand and a combination from Fortrose and Waimahaka. The scores at the end of two hours' play read: leJand-Glenham, 21, Fortrose- Waimahaka 11, and 13 draws. Cheers were given for the victors and losers respectively, and an adjournment made to host and hostess Gray's, where the Island players treated their late rivals to plenty ■ of good tea and toothsome eatables. Thereafter Messrs J. C. Clfcrk, J. D. Gillies, and Wards contributed songs. Captain Gillies thanked the Island players for giving his team a match, and for the handsome manner they had treated them. Although defeated they were not disgraced, and he hoped to j turn the tables at a return match.
