There was a fair attendance of the public. The teams were : — Storey Ukivbbsitt. — Full ' back, E. M. Fisher; three-quarters — G. C. Curtis, J. B. " Lane, B. C. H. Pockley, and W. G. Stack;, five-eighth. H. R. Browning; half back, j P. J. Kelly; forwa/rds — S. A. Marden, N, W. Broughton, G. B. Lindeinan, W. W. Martin. A. B. Doyle, J. R. Jones, J. B. Metoalfe, and M. Maxwell. Canterbury College. — Full back, H. M.- • Chrystall ; three-quarters — G. S. M'Kemzie, M. H. Rhodes, W. C. Harley; five-eighths, C. R. Wilson and C. A. Ferguson: half back. L. Henderson; forwards — E. P. Williams, O. C. Butt, A. J. Wigley, W, Grace, W. Harrison, E. J. Wilson, F. A. Anderson, H. P. Young. Canterbury College, losing the toss, kicked off from the south end and opened briskly, keeping play in the Sydney twentyfive. From a free kick Ohrystall had an. unsuccessful shot at goal. A forward rush, headed by Wigley, had Sydney defending, Liit Fisher saved by finding touch. Canterbury kept up the attack, their forwards playing a fast hustling game that gave the Sydney backs no chances. The Sydney defence was very severely tested for a considerable period, but while Canterbury were still attacking a pass from Chrystall to M'Kenzie went astray, and Curtis, snapping; ■ up the ball, ran to the Canterbury twenty- . five, where Harley overhauled him. Tha. , Canterbury forwards soon drove their opponents back, but the Sydney men livened up, and a loose rush 'had play in the home team's twenty-five. From a mark Lane made a good shot at goal, the ball goingjust outside the po"t«. After some indecisive play in midfield, a good run by Rhodes had Sydney again defending, and' some vigorous rushes by the forwards -took the ball to the Sydney line, but attempts to pick up the ball lost a capital chance of scoring. Canterbury was playing a much stronger game, Young, Henderson, and \> ilbon beintr nrominent in several ru«he3 that gave Sydney a very anxious time. The handling of the ball by the home team's backs was very faulty, and this undid a lot of work done bvthe forwards. Just at the end of the spell Wilson made a nioe run, and passed to Williams, who scored near the corner. The handling of the ball by the backs, however, showed no improvement, and a Sydney rush, headed by Broughton, took place to • half-way, where Fishor gained a lot of ground by some well-judged line kicking. The Canterbury forwards soon cleared their hne. With play in midfield Rhodes made a fine rur, whioh beat the Sydney back 6. He kirked past Fisher, ar.d Wilson, who had followed up fast, scored in a good position, but Chryetall's shot at goal failed. Canterbury 6 points. Sydney Nil. A moment later Ferguson put in a dashing- run, which took play to the Sydneyline, and Anderson ecored. Wilson made & poor shot at goal. Canterbury ... .„. M 9 points. Sydney Nil. In the last few minutes Sydney showed much improved form, and their backs made some very attractive passing roahes, which were stopped by mistakes at critical times. The visitors were unable to sustain their effort, and when the game ended they were still defending, the final score Being : — Canterbury College ... ~. 14 points. Sydney University 5 points.
