Nevertheless he trotted in magnificent style, and amidst the greatest enthusiasm he just managed" to ecoxe f»oro thir other Sydney candidate, Van Roy, and the Allendale Stock Farm's elect Birchmark. Both winner and his expert rider (Gus. Millsom) were loudly cheered by the onlookers for their splendid victory. A most exciting struggle for the winning post then occurred between the pair, and Dejiver Huon gained th« verdict by about nine yards. Birohanark was only three yards off, third, whilst 15 yards further away came Prince Louis in fourth pilacs ; then followed Bolderwood, Louie, Philos, You and I, ami Ostler Lad, with Daisy a hjvd last.
