THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1909> At 11 a.m., When the following PRIZES will , be offered: — OTAGO CHALLENGE CUP. This valuable Cup is offered by the Committee of the above Society for competition at the coming Horse Parade for the BEST CLYDESDALE STALLION, three years old or upwards, entered for competition at the Annual Horse Parade of the Otago A. and P. Society under th© following- conditions : — , (1) The Minister of Agriculture will be asked to appoint a duly qualified Veterinary Surgeon to. examine the horses that may ba entered for competition for the Cup as to soundness, and certified to by him ac being free from hereditary unsoundness. Na animaJ will be allowed to compete before being examined by the veterinary surgeon on the day preceding or the day of competition, at a place to be decided upon by the Committee. (An enclosed area, in which only the veterinary surgeon and two attending members appointed by the Committee of the Society will be allowed tha right of entry.) (2) The certificate of inspection will ba handed to the owner only by the veterinary, surgeon. (3 The Cup must be won three times by an exhibitor, but not more than twice by one horse, not necessarily in consecutive years, before it becomes his absolute pro* perty. » (4) The winner of the Cup other than the actual winner shall before delivery thereof is made give security to the Society that he will deliver same at the Society's Office seven days before the following parade. (5) Until the Cup is won outright, tho winner will receive in addition the Society's Gold Medal as a memento of his winning the Cup. A Silver Medal will be awarded to the Reserve Champion.
