THE POLICE COMMISSION
SITTING AT THAMES. THAMES, September 8. At the Police Commissior evidence was given by Inspector Kiely and other locaJ officers to the effect that the service might be made more attractive by increasing the rates of pay. There was no dissatisfaction locally, and the discipline was good. Dissatisfaction with promotion would exist under any system. The evidence of the constables was in favour of physical culture classes. In answer to Mr Dinme, Inspector Kiely said he had received a communication from the late inspector of police at Napier, in which Mr Dinnie's name was mentioned, but he declined to go into details, as the communication was private.
