THE HON. T. MACKENZIE.
VISIT TO HAWKES BAY. HASTINGS September; 10. The Hon. T. Mackenzie, accompanied by Messrs E. Clifton and W Boucher, v rived last night. A deputation of dairy farmers urged the Minister to appoint a butter grader for Hawke's Bay, stating that it would be the means of saving 2s 6d per cwt if it obviated the sending of butter to Wellington to be graded. The Minister replied that he hardly thought the district output warranted the appointment, but the Hon. J. Carroll had mentioned that a grader was wanted for Poverty Bay, and if one wasr appointed he might extend his duties to include Hawke's . Bay. If this could be done without entailing much extra expense he would favourably consider the suggestion. - A Feilding resident » at present J*rdl at work on the construction of an aeroplane, which he expects to hta-ve finished by the end of the year. The machine ia to be driven by a seven hoiwe-powep eneine, and it will weigh about 1751b.
