' THRESHING MILL WORKERS' DISPUTE WATMATE,' September 1. Mr f:,R. Triggs, Conciliation-Commis-sioner, j&iet the South C»terlrary ' millowners and workers' representatives here to-day in regard to the matters in dispute, and, after a conference, an agreement was arrived at on all the' matters submitted to the Commissioner. The workers asked for the hour system, but' agreed that it should be optional on either side to have the contract or hour system. ' A. shilling an hour was agreed to, a& i against a shilling -and found asked foi. Piecework rates for ordinary workers were fixed at 12s per thousand bushels for I wheat or barley, and 10s for oats. No'^ threshing out of the- stook to be allowed. Grain must be stacked. A shilling an> hour is to be allowed when shifting the mill from stack to stack. A week's notice is to be given on either ei<3e, or a week's ' pay to be forfeited, to go to the store fund. The other demands of 'the workers, including preference, were granted. Tbe; awaa'd will remain in force for two years.
