Fast following up by Graham led to the local team forcing. The Blues returned to the attack, but Mundel) cut off a pass by Ivimey, and the local team oleared, but the Blue backs retaliated with a nice piece of passing. A free kick tc 1 Tuapeka effected a chance of positions, bul the Blues w-ero back again within a minute or two, and Tuapeka forced. Graham and , Watt next showed up in a dribbling rush which extended to the Colours' twenty-five, but Hynes cleared to Otago territory. A free kick drove them back, and a rush by the Blue forwards penetrated to within a few feet of the local line. Soon afterwards Sutherland sent the ball out to Marston, who scored in the corner, Scott failed to convert from a difficult angle. Otago 3 points. Tuapeka South Nil. Otago attacked again, but the greasy state of the ground and the ball was proving a big handicap. Scott failed to kick goal from a free kick. The Blues were having no difficulty in nolding play in Tuapoka's twenty-five. O'Sullivan made a nice dash for the line, and was thrown oul at the corner. Sutherland attempted tc pot, but miekioked, and the Colours transferred play to the twenty-five. Soon after warda M'Dougall went very near potting ja- goal. Fast following up by Graham saw him lose the ball on Tuapeka's goal line. A little later half-time was oalted On resuming the Blues invaded the local territory from the commencement. Tuapeka Nil. The Colours made a warm rally, which carried them to the Blues' twenty-five. Tuapeka pressed, but Graham broke up the attack. Tuapei;a, however; asserted themselves again, and swept play to Otago's line, but M'Dougall cleared nicely. A long return by Nicholson saw the Blues forced. Otago attacked next, and O'Sulllvan put in a nice run to the twenty-five, ar.d the forwards, with Clarke in the lead, carried the ball over the local line.butde Lautour forced just in time. Tho Blues did not make much impression on the local defence in tlia opening spell.
