OTAGO RUGBY UNION.
The weekly meeting of the Otago Football Rugby Union Committee, held on Monday nitrht. was attended by Messrs F. H. Campbell (president), H Harris, W. J.Wil&on, H. Sincock, V. G. Cavanagh, P. J. Prie>t, D. Stuart. A. Low, D. Munro. J. J. Dunne. H. H. S. White. J. King, ' J. Duncan, E. A. Hamel, arx! G. W C. Maedonald. Mr Cavunagh moved — '"Thai the motion that no trainer Yo enjra^ed for the Ota^o team be rescinded." The Match Committee, he said, was of opinion that they should have a trainer. — Mr Priest s?c«n*k<] tho motion. — Mr Wilson said the trouble was that some players complained that , the trainer was monopolised by one or two | players. One trainer for 15 men was no good. — Mr Harris said if th<? Match Committee considered that they should have a trainer they should have one. — Tho motion was carried, and it vra? agreed to appoint two trainers for two nights and Saturday afternoon at a fee not to exceed £2 each < It was resolved to forwaid the Owaka Club's app-eal against a decision of tli2 union to the New Zealand Union. Ihr Canterbury Union wrote that it was agrpeabta to a local referee for the match ag.iinst Otago. It was resolved to ask the Refeic-es" Association to s.ibmit three names to t.he committee to be forwarded to tl.f Canterbury Union. ' The Wellington Union wrote stating- that 1 it would be pleasetl for Mr A. Downes to | act in ihfir oramo again-t Ota^o.— Received. E. S Wilson, oti behalt of tho Oiago Cricket Association and the VoUiiiteers, asked the committee if it could arrange for an Otago team to play against the Alhambra First Fifteen on the 25th inst.— Mr Harris brought forward another suggestion: That the Metiopolhan team that met Sydney representatives should play the Otago team that toured thg goklfields. This might prove a better draw for the ■ Cricket Association. — It was agreed to ■ forward the latter suggestion to the Cricket Association for its consideration. The Ofcago Football Association applied for the use of ths Caledonian or Caris- • brook Ground on which to play the repre- 1 eentathe match, Otago v. Canterbury.— lt
' was agreed that a ground be granted for the 18th inst , provided that it is in a fit I condition and is not wanted by the Rugby 1 Union for the representative match against I Canterbury. , Mr Wilson moved— "That the match, . Otago v. Wellington, be played on the j Caledonian Ground." — Mr White said he , hoped the union would popularise its own I ground by playing the match there.— The I President said if they played at Carisbrook they must have an enclosure and seats. — Mr Cavanagh eaid that from a football point of view he would support the game being played on the Carisbrook Ground. The wind would not affeot a game there. —The President said he was satisfied they would have a big crowd at the match j wherever it was played.— Tho motion was ■ lost. The match will therefore be played ■ at Carisbrook
