ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 1. A-t the Addington live stock market to-day owing to wet weather, the entries of stock were generally smaller than of late, and tho attendance was limited. Fat cattle were dull of fale, and fat sfoeep, owing to short supply, showed en improvement at the opening of the sale, but towards the clo&e prices fell below those of last week. Store sheep also sold well, and pigs showed practically ru> change. Store and dairy cattle were dull of sale. The entry of store sheep was a fmall one. the majority being hoggets, and thoie were a few pens of ewes and lambs. Tlie-re was better inquiry for all classes," and boggets which were mostly medium 'orts, fold at an advance of about Gd per head One lot of three-quarterbred ewe hoggets made 13s, halfbred hoggets (small and of mixed sexes) 9s 2d to 9s 6d, and ewes and lambs 6s lid (all counted). There were a few new season's fat lambs penr-ecl, and they .=old at 15s Gd to 18s. The supply of fat sheep was a short one. and included some good lines of wether 0. The market opened at an advance on last week's rates, but when butcher= had filled their requiremnts prices fell below tho^e of last week.
