NEW QUARANTINE REGULATIONS FOR AUSTRALIA.
Since the Common wealth took over the quarantine 'laws there have' -been several alterations in the regulations regarding imported dogs Th< following aro the changes: — Private- quarantine grounds may be used until the Cocdc Island grounds are ready. The fee of three guineas is. dispensed with. T.ho Government veterinary surgeon will pass the dogs free of charge .o importers. Dogs from the United Kingdom will be quarantined for 90 days froir date of landing. From other Europsan countries, as well as from America, Africa, Japan, China, etc., the time will be 180 days. No quarantine is neocssary in the- case of dogs imported from New Zealand. Owners have to produce a certificate tnat the animal has been free from disease for six months preceding the date of shipment, and has not been in contact with any animal suffering from disease preceding shipment He must also produce- a certificate of general health, signed by f veterinary surgeon at the port of shipment The deposit is £10 instead of- £15, and the balance, after deducting keep, stc, is to be returned to the importer. Arrangements for feed and ksep must be made with the caretaker of .the station, who ie entitled to charge up to Is .per day. - The new regulations admit dogs from .Africa. By the former regulations such dogs were prohibited. .«•
