DUNEDIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce, held on Friday, was attended by Messrs D M'Pherson- (chairman), W. Gow, J. Loudon, A S. Paterson, J M. Gallaway, G. R. Ritchie, and Crosby Morris. A memo, was received from the Wellington Chamber with a copy of a letter from the Hon. J. A. Millar stating that he could not see his way to comply with the request of the conference of chambers regarding the issue of week-end tickets on the railways. The Wellington Chamber wrote intimating that the expenses of the recent conference amounted to £196 2s 4d, of which the Dunedin chambpr's share, on a basis of revenue was £24 3s 3d, and requesting: a remittance. — Amount to be paid, and the Wellington Chamber informed that the sum was not considered excessive. Mr Hugh H Henderson was appointed acting secretary durinp the absence of Mr Peter Barr in Australia. It wa3 reported that there was a credit balance of £175 19s 4d at the bank, and it "vas resolved that £50 be placed on 'ited deposit. The Oamaru Chamber wrote a3 to complaints received regarding the unsuitableness of the small cornsack for the use of millers, and forwarded a copy of a resolution that the old size be revorted to. It was decided that agreement be expressed with the resolution.
