A SERIOUS CHARGF.
AUCKLAND, September 2. \ At .the Police Court this morning- ■ Arnold Hare, a young roan, was charged with having cent to T. E. Clark letters containing threats, with intent to extort money. A letter was received by Clark demanding £50 for not disclosing matters concerning a certain firm. The money j was to be deposited at a certain' place. I The police were informed, a -watcn set, 1 and accused was arrested. At the request ' of the police accused was remanded on bail (two sureties of £50 each). v —An ostrich feather, if held upright, will be seen to be perfectly equal on both sides, the stem dividing it exactly in th© centre. In other feathers the stems arefound to be more or less on one side.
