WORKERS ON STRIKE
SYDNEY, September 2. Five hundred men employed at the cement works and coal mine at Portland have struck for an increase of wages. September 6. A compromise has been reached in the Portland cement workers' strike* and work will be resumed to-day, conditional on the men's claims for liigher wages being considered by the Wages Board.
