CASUALTIES.
A well-known resident named John O. George, of New Plymouth, aged about 65 years, was found in his house on the 3rd hist, shot through the head- Deceased had been in poor health and low-spirited since the death of his wife and son some two years ago. A fatal accident occurred at Edendale on the 3rd inst. A threshing-mdll hand named Angus Cameron, a middle-aged man, was riding on the forecarriage of a mill when it broke, and the front of the mill pinned him to the ground, breaking his neck. The deceased was married, and leaves a grown-up family. Jas. B. Forde, aged 66 years, a wellknown contractor of Waikiwi, met his death some time on Thursday, 2nd inst.,' as the result* of a buggy accident at Roslyn Bush. Mr Forde had apparently been driving home in the dark,, when the accident occurred, and the trap was overturned down a bank. His dead body was found on the roadside this morning, and the horjse was discovered wandering near the spot The . deceased leaves a widow and two daughters (both married)^ and five sons, two of whom are married. The sons have all been prominent in football circles in Southland. William Higginson, aged 35 years, died suddenly in a boarding-house in Wellington on the 6th inst. He had been complaining of cold for five weeks, and baa been confined to his room for a day or two. His room mate calkd in a doctor and found him suffering from pneumonia, and ordered his, removal to the hospital, but before he could be shifted he fell back in bed and expired. He is supposed to be a single man with no relatives in New Zealand. A young man named John Ttiean was found in his claim at Ross on the sth with a bullet wound through the roof of his mouth. A Winchester rifle lay beside him. He had been abs&nt since Friday, but it was thought he had pone north. It appears to be a case of suicide. While out -walking on Sunday evening an old-age pensioner named William Syines dropped dead at Forest Hill from heart disease. - • Colin M'Laren. eon of the late Alexander M'Laren, of Goodwood, was "thrown from his horse on Saturday, and died from the injuries he received. Deceased was 32 yeare of age. Mr William Rendle, aged 71 years, a farmer at Moonlight, died " suddenly on Sunday, the cause of death being heart failure.
The Duke of York's Military School at Chelsea will be moved to Dover,* where new buildings have been erected.
