A WIN FOR THE MEDICALS. A bitterly cold wind blew over the Caledonian Ground yesterday afternoon when the students of Otago University held their annual inrer-faculty 6ports, in connection with which a number of University championships were decided. There was only a small attendance of the general public, but the keenest interest was shown in the different events. The long distance track was in a bad condition, and the sprinters had to run against the strong wind, which affected the times recorded to the credit of the different winners. Each competitor represented a faculty, and the points gained by each winner counted in favour of his peculiar faculty: thus, as each race, etc., wa6 concluded, it was seen that there was exceedingly closo competition between the Arrs and the Medicals for the premiership of the University, and the result of the last race, which finally decided the matter, wa3 awaited by each side with the keenest anxiety. The premiership eventually went to the Medicals, who .scored 46 points to the Arts' 44. Law gained 21 and Mining 19. The different events were commenced well on time, and the arrangements made by the secretary and his officials for the comfort of competitors and public reflect greatly to their credit. The following gentlemen acted as officials : — Referee, Dr Marshall ; superintendent, Dr Scott; judges track events — Dr Gilray, Bro. Brady, Profe«or Richards, and Dr Roberts ; judges of fielct events — Dr Barnett, Professor Park, Dr Malcolm, Dr Benham: timekeeper, Mr A. Foster; starter, Mr J. Dreaver : blackboard, Mr P. H. White.
