The Bank of Engl^id returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £38,523,000; reserve, £28,934,000; proportion of' reserve to liabilities, 52.54. The notes in circulation total £29,458,000; Government securities, £15,366,000 ; and other securities, £17,700,000 (?). The bank rate of discount Ls 2£ per cent.
