SIR J. G. WARD'S PROPOSALS. LONDON, August 18. Sir J. G. Ward received in conference the New Zealand meat .importers, and discussed the question of low prices. He promised to meet the shippers in New Zealand, with a view to co-operation a.nd the regulating of shipments, and he would recommend the Government to spend some thousands in advertising New Zealand meat; but the Government would have nothing to do with opening shops in competition with retail traders in England, nor would he agree to branding meat.
