INVERCARGILL BAND CONTEST.
(Fbom Oub Own Coreespondent.) INVERCARGILL, August 18. For the Invercargili band contest (open) in November next 11 entries have been received. These include the four Invercargili bands, and (Jore, Winton, Bluff Navalsj Wools-ton, Port Chalmers, Morningfon, and Oamaru Garrison. To-night it was decided to recommend the South Inland Bra.*s Bands' Association to appoint as judge Mr A. Wade, of Wanganui. Mr Wade had had a large Home and Australian experience, he having come from England to judge the Ballarat contest in 1905^ and iiaving since then judged at contests in nearly every Australian State. It is cc-nsideied that this appoint:nent, if adopted, will give satisfaction to all competing bands. The music of the marches "Invercargili" and "New Zea. land," by Mr A. F. Ldthgow, of Launceston, has come to hand. A committee was appointed to get this dvti'ibuted immediately. The election music has not yet been received. A committee was eet up to consider whether the association should not be requested to revise its programme for marching.
