ACTING PRIME MINISTER INTERVIEWED.
GISBOENE, August 17. The Hon. James Carroll (ActingPrime Minister) was tendered a cojnplimentary social to-night in the Garraon Hall. The gathering was of a * nonparty nature, and an address expressing pleasure that the district ' had * beer* honoured by Mr Carroll's appointmentbo so high an office was presented and complimentary speeches were made. Th» Acting Prime Minister replied in a characteristic and eloquent speech, but the function being chiefly .social he did not touch on political issues.
