EXTENDING ACCOMMODATION.

NEW PLYMOUTH, August 20.

The New Plymouth Hai-bour Board decided to-day to proceed with the newwharf works in connection with the deep sea harbour proposal. The board decided on the short, as opposed, to the long, whaarf scheme, and to proceed at onoe to widen the existing wharves to 72ft, giving accommodation for five lines of rails. It -was also decided to dredge the basin to a depth of 33ft at low water. The new dredge is now being constructed in England, and the harbour works should be so far advanced as to admit Home liners within two years.
