PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED
i The Hibbert Journal for July has the usual surprising- array of articles upon a > widely divergent variety of texts, theological, scientific, philosophical, and ethical. Science ia well represented by a brilliant ' exposition and criticism of "Atomic Theorie? tund Modern. Physics," by Professor Louis T. More, Cincinnati. A very long and not very convincing papei Is that on "Religious Life and Thought in Germany To-day," by Professor H. Weinel, Jena. From it one ! learns at least that tfie paopJe of Germany are weltering in as inchoate a muddle of theological unrest as any on earth. The author's ssne« of proportion appears to be defective, for he evidently believes that a new scheme of interpretation, "free from every antiquated picture of the world and from every antiquated dogma," now being ' essayed by certain theologians' of the Fatherland, is to bring union and peace to rbe discordant" ele-mants. "Is Nature Gocd?" is the title of a rather metaphysical but suggestive ard thought-inspiring disquisition, in Mr Mai loch's strain on a much discussed theme. It is by Professor John, Dewey, of Columbia University. Other articles are: "The Scottish Establishment „ from on Inside Point of View," by -the Rev. D. Frew; "A New Development in „ O!d Testament Criticism," by-Profeaor B. D. Eerdmsins, Leiden; "Moral .Force in , War," b,y Lieutonftnt-geoieral Sir "Bjaginftid . Hart. V.C. : "Choice," by JDr E.
