SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The usual monthly meeting of the Otapo School Commissioners was held on the 17th, inst. Present: Messrs Win. Dallas (in the cheir). D. Borrie, E. H. Wilmot, J. A. Hunan, M.P.. and T. Mac gibbon.

A special resolution passed at a meetingheld on July 20, 1909, agreeing to accept surrender of Mr John Reid's lease of sections 16 and 17. block 7, Shotover district, as from April 30, 1910, was confirmed.

The secretary reported that the result of the sale of leases at Clyde on July 29 was as • follows : — Section 19, block IT, Leaning Rock, 24 acres 3 roods, leased to R. C. Attfield at 5s per annum ; section 33, block I, Leaning Rock. 14 acres 2 rood?, leaned to R. C. Attfield at £2 per annum; section 33. block XI, Clyde town, 7 poles, J eased to P. Harrington at 15s per annum ; sections 1, 2, and 3. block XV. Clyde town. 2 roods 19 poles, leased to P. Harrington at 5s per annum. — Noted.

In re a letter from the secretary of the Muddy Terrace Sluicing Company in reply to the commissioners' demand for Is per load on 250 tons of gravel, offering 3d per load, it was decided to accent 6d per ton.

Messrs Mac Gibbon and Ha nan reported on the proposal of the Southland Count v Council to take land on sections 7 and 9, block XII. Invercargill Hundred, for a road. — Decided to make no objection to road being taken on usual terms. E. Delargev. lessee of sections 7. 8. 9. and 14. block VII, Waikaia, anplied for permission to erect a five-roomed house at a cost of £240.— Granted.

Wesley Turtin. on behalf of J. B. Robertson, applied to purchase section 22, block VIII, Qupenstown, for £10 cash.— Consideration dfferrod.

Jas. Murray applied to lease 6Petion 83, block I, Paterson survey district. — Considpration deferred.

Tho Southland Education Board applied for reservation of part of section 28, block X. Jacobs River Hundred, as a school site. — Granted.

Mondy and Stephens wrote forwardmgr for completion a formal authority to acfc against E. E. Edge for recovery of coal royalty.-^-Necessary authority granted. John Wright applied for a lease over section I of 20, block 1^ Otokia. — Decided to. invite tenders for a eeven-yean' lease. It was resolved that a record of all applications granted to tenants for authority to erect improvements on their leaseholds be; made on the plan book at the commissioners' office
