MANAGERIAL EXPLANATION.

AUCKLAND, August 17. Mr Murdoch M'Lean states that his firm provided acetylene lamps, costing 10s 6d each, for the workmen, -who weare so careless that the firm was Josing on an average from 10 to 15 lamps each week. To protect itself the firm insisted on the men depositing the cost of the lamps, the de-posit being returnable on the men leaving the job and 1 returning the lamps. Mr McLean thinks the trouble at Otira will be speedily settled.
