ST. CLAIR GOLF CLUB.
The annual meeting of the St. Clair Golf Club was held last evening. Mr J. H. Fotheringham (captain) was voted to" the chair, and there was a large attendance ot members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the Chairman stated that the most important item on the balance sheet was the money expended on the golf house. At a meeting a, few months ago it had 'o-een decided to issue debentures to build the house. During the year £91 7s 2d had boon expended on labour and material and on the general upkeep of the links. The finances were in a most satisfactory condition, and, thanks to their energetic secretary (Mr W 11. Irvine), the outstanding subscriptions had been reduced to £8 Bs, and the balance sheet showed a credit balance of £77, as against £44 last year.— (Applause.) The club had secured a new se\en years' tenure over the ground, and there was a big possibility of their securing an additional 30 acres. — (Applause.J Mr J. Lethbridge, in seconding the motion, sounded a note of warning against
over-lavish expenditure, as they had a very big year before them.
The motion was carried unanimously. It was unanimously resolved — " That rule 7 be amended by inserting the words ' and five other members' after the word deputycaptain in the sixth line; and, further, that the clause reading ' two members of the five members of committee, etc., etc.,' down to ' re-election,' be deleted."
The election of office-bearers resulted as follows : —President, Mr J. F. M. Fraser (re-elected) ; vice-presidente — Messrs J. C. Marshall and James Fotherincfham ; captain, Mr B. R. Stock; deputy-captain, Mr J. Forbes ; committee — Messrs J. Lethbridge, J. H. Fotheringham, J. W. B. Purchase, L. Jardine, and Btmdle ; auditor, Mr H. de C. M'Arthur (re-elected).
The Chairman presented the trophies as follows: — Champion, Mr J. Forbes; First Consolation Handicap, Mr F. W. P. Jackson ; Second Consolation Handicap, Mr I*. Jardine. -
