LONDON, Augut 10. ! Rowland, a New Zealandier', won the Thre-e- ' mile Handicap Walk at Glasgow in 21mm 39 l-ssec— a Scottish record. 1 At the same meeting R. E Walker, the ' South African, ran 120yde in 11 3-ssec and 150 yds in 14 4-ssec— both records. OTAGO CENTRE N.Z. ATHLETIC UNION. The third ai-nual report for the period ended July 31, to be "presented to the annual meeting, says: — During the year 30 I societies and clubs were registered, as against \ 34 the previous season, or a decrease, of i three. The number of competitors regisi tered at the different sports meetings j totalled 442. or a falling off of 39 on the total feir the previous year. Messrs Keast, Hobbs, Fenwick, and M'Eay ably represented your executive at the conference of centres, held in Dunediri on December 31 and January 1 last. The championships were held :n connection with the Otago 1 Caledonian Society's gathering t on January 1 and 2, and were well managed by the officials of that body. Your executive entertained the visiting delegates, championship winners, and the executive officers of the Ofcago Caiedonian Society at a social 1 function, during which the medals, donated by the centre and others, and the championship certificates were presented to the winners. The thanks of the executive are dne to the Kaikorai Band Committee for providing prizes at one of iis- popular Bummer evening concerts, to Messrs Oliver 1 (KaitangataJ. Kitchen. (Palmerston), Stevens (Clyde), Yarcoe (Cromwell), Fenwick (Waitati), and Collie (Dunedin), who represented the centre at various sports meetings during the season ; to the press for reporting meetings, and to the secretaries qf the offiliated bodies in registering competitors, and in assisting the executive in carrying out its duties. Your retiring executive trusts the good work being done by the. N Z.A.U. and its different centres will be further advanced by the energy and eii- > thusiasm which the incoming- executive will throw into the duties of th*»ir position. INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIP: 1 The fifth Interclub Cross-country Cham- | pionship under the auspices of the Otago Centre, N.Z. A.A. A., was run on Saturday at Wingatuil The distance was a little under five miles out from Wingatui Racecourse, over good country, and home to the racecourse for the finish.
